Our methodology

At Opensignal, we continuously analyze mobile networks worldwide, enabling us to construct a comprehensive benchmark of mobile experience across global markets. 

The Global Network Excellence Index evaluates mobile infrastructure readiness at a country level, using three core pillars of network experience: Time on 4G/5G, Excellent Consistent Quality and Download Speed. 

The overall Global Network Excellence Index assigns equal weights to each pillar, ranking markets based on their average performance across all three components. 

One of the key challenges in global benchmarking is that device ecosystems vary widely between countries. To address this, the Index offers two device-based views, with High end devices now set as the default.

To provide deeper insights, the Index enables segmentation by geography (land area and region) and income level, following the World Bank’s classifications.

The number of reportable countries may vary from quarter to quarter based on our minimum reporting criteria. The rank change indicator reflects changes in ranking relative to the previous report.
