Mobile network speeds leaped ahead in 2023, but some markets lag behind
Here we review the progression of mobile network user experience that took place over 2023. By examining the Download Speed Experience during the year-end three-month periods of both 2022 and 2023, we have identified a clear positive trend in network performance across the regions of Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa, and the Asia Pacific, which have exacerbated the experience gap seen between markets that existed before.

To reflect the varying ways in which fixed broadband is used we have analyzed five different measures of the user experience: Broadband Consistent Quality, Broadband Video Experience, Broadband Download Speed, Broadband Peak Download Speed and Broadband Upload Speed.

European markets show significant disparity in broadband user experience
In this analysis, Opensignal looks at user experience on broadband networks across 28 European markets. We have focused on three user experience measures — Broadband Download Speed, Broadband Upload Speed and Broadband Consistent Quality, the latter being a measure of how often users’ experience on a network is sufficient to support common applications’ requirements.
