T-Mobile wins the 5G Download Speed award for the sixth time in a row. However, following the launch of C-band in January 2022, T-Mobile is no longer the only carrier showing big jumps in users’ speeds as we have started to see the impact of C-band deployments on Verizon and AT&T’s results.

T-Mobile leads across most mobile experience categories in the U.S. based on Opensignal’s awards table as it wins six awards outright — all four awards in the Overall Experience section, as well as both Consistent Quality awards.
Despite interference concerns, 5G already offers a better user experience at the busiest US airports
Opensignal looked at the mobile network experience of our users at the 25 busiest airports in the U.S. based on FAA reports, and compared that to national results, to see how users’ 5G mobile experience differed. Opensignal users enjoyed faster overall cellular download speeds and an overall better video streaming experience, compared to the national average. However, users also spent more time without a cellular signal at airports.

5G beats Public Wifi for gaming as well as speed
For a long time, users have assumed that Wifi always offers a superior experience to cellular connectivity, when using the Internet on mobile devices, either at home or in public places.
Analyzing mobile experience at NHL arenas across Canada and the US
Opensignal data shows that users at NHL arenas in both Canada and the U.S. had a significantly better experience when connected to 5G compared to the overall experience of all users at those venues. But our data also shows that users’ experience varied depending on their choice of carrier.
Quantifying the impact of C-band on 5G mobile experience in the US
Opensignal took its first look at the impact of AT&T and Verizon’s C-band launches on the 5G mobile experience as we analyzed the 5G speeds seen on the U.S. carriers when connected to mid-band 5G spectrum, using T-Mobile’s 5G experience on the 2.5 GHz band for comparison.
