Colombia, January 2022, Mobile Network Experience
Our award table saw no changes since the last report — Tigo wins all but one of the awards outright. The only exception is 4G Coverage Experience, which Claro successfully defends and claims outright for the fifth time in a row. For the first time, we have directly compared the mobile network experience of our users on WOM, a new player in the Colombian mobile market, against the experience of users on other established Colombian networks.
Amid rising competition, Indonesian mobile operators need to focus on retaining their high-value users
In this report, we have analyzed our users’ mobile data consumption to understand if the users who are looking for a new service provider are high or low-value users for mobile operators. We found that approximately one third of mobile users that switched operators were higher value users that operators should be seeking to retain.
Norway, December 2021, 5G Experience
In our first look at the 5G experience in Norway, we found a mobile network experience landscape characterized by extreme competition, with many of our awards resulting in a tie. However, Telia wins the 5G Games Experience award and is the sole operator achieving an Excellent rating.
Finland, December 2021, 5G Experience
In our first look at the 5G experience in Finland, we found that our Finnish users enjoyed 5G download speed in excess of 200 Mbps on all three operators, but DNA wins the 5G Games Experience award and is the sole operator to achieve a Good rating.
Spectrum scarcity hampers mobile network experience in Sri Lanka
In our new analysis, Opensignal has observed that our smartphone users in Sri Lanka connected to 4G networks using a limited amount of mobile spectrum — which impacted the average 4G download speeds our users experienced. Some operators like Dialog or Airtel have been refarming the 2100 MHz band used for 3G to dedicate more spectrum assets to 4G connectivity.

Singaporean mobile users see nearly 50% faster speeds on 5G than on Wifi
This new Opensignal analysis shows the arrival of 5G means that cellular connections are no longer always inferior to Wifi. Average 5G download speeds are faster than Wifi and 5G gaming is on par with that on Wifi.
