Despite all three national service providers in the U.S. having launched nationwide 5G services, smartphone users still spend the majority of their time connected to older network technologies, rather than 5G. In our new USA 5G User Experience report, where we delve deeper into seven categories of the 5G mobile experience, we found that our 5G users spent the highest amount of time connected to 5G services on T-Mobile at 36.3%.

While there are some new 5G winners in this report, overall Opensignal’s awards table has seen few changes since our previous 5G report. T-Mobile maintains a clear edge on our two measures of a network’s extent — 5G Availability and 5G Reach — as well as a firm lead on 5G Download Speed and 5G Upload Speed.
Quantifying the mmWave 5G experience in the US — July update
Opensignal analyzed the U.S. mobile experience on mmWave 5G, a subset of 5G experience which is significantly different to other types of 5G services. We found the fastest average mmWave 5G download speed of 618.4 Mbps using Verizon.
